Guilty plea entered; sentence remains pending
DOJ's October 15 release says sentencing is scheduled for January 8, 2027. It does not establish that the fraudulent charges represented actual freight shipments. Statutory maximum penalties are not a sentence already imposed.
Understanding the update

What it means for drivers and carriers
Transportation businesses should protect personal information, verify payment instructions independently and investigate unexplained financial discrepancies.
Questions to consider
- Are payment-account changes independently verified before money moves?
