ATRI survey ranks fuel prices first overall, with parking second among drivers
· Source: American Transportation Research Institute
ATRI's 22nd annual Top Industry Issues report places fuel prices at the top of trucking stakeholders' concerns. Drivers ranked fuel, parking and compensation as their leading three issues; carriers ranked lawsuit reform, fuel and driver shortage. Nearly 3,100 stakeholders participated.

A priorities survey, not a new legal requirement
The October 18 release says motor-carrier executives and personnel represented more than 48% of respondents, drivers 26%, and other stakeholders the remaining 26%. Different participant groups ranked issues differently; the results do not measure the prevalence of each problem across every fleet.
Understanding the update
Research findings and suggested strategies are not enacted rules, measured wage changes or guaranteed policy outcomes.
What it means for drivers and carriers
Carriers and recruiters should discuss fuel exposure, usable parking, detention and pay clarity with drivers rather than assume management and driver priorities match.
Questions to consider
- Which operating frustrations are drivers reporting that management's metrics overlook?
